Out with MASCARA... In With LASHES!!!

Hey Ladies,

I use to be a MASCARA JUNKIE! Every commercial that extended natural lashes to its full potential led me right to Target to purchase whosever mascara. Then I realized, almost all of them didn't work. So I started buying designer mascara. The brands I purchased range from MAC to Christian Dior. They definitely worked differently than the brands sold in Target, but it still left my lashes clumpy since I had to apply 3-4 coats on my lashes. I was stuck and disappointed with the results, but had no other choice since to me, mascara is a make up necessity.

Then, I discovered individual lashes! This is what the models are wearing when they sold me on whatever brand mascara they modeled. This is why every celebrities lashes looked flawless! I found the real reason why I couldn't get that look.

Individual lashes are single artificial lashes that are applied to your real lashes. Each eye can typically have 200-300 individual lashes and 3-5 individual lashes on each real lash. This gives your lashes a longer or fuller look depending on what it is you are going for.

I usually get 2mm longer than my real length. Since I am still new to the lash life, the inside of my lashes are shorter to give my lashes a natural look. My lashes have the same curl pattern as my real lashes. But, if your lashes are long and straight, their are lashes to compliment your lash pattern as well.

These individual lashes take about 2 to 2.5 hours to apply for the first time. Your lashes will fall out! Every time your real lash grows out, the lashes attached to that lash will fall out with it. When most of your lashes fall out which is typically within a 4-6 week period, you will need a fill. A fill is to fill in all the spaces your false lashes have fallen out. The fill process takes out 45 min to 1.5 hours.

This can be a pretty pricey process. I have seen prices as low as $80 for a full set to $300. Fills are usually half the price of the full set.

I don't have a picture of a before and after, but I will update when I go for my fill later this month. For now, here is a picture I found for those who would like to see the difference:

In this picture, look at the difference of the length and volume. These lashes give you a flawless look if done correctly.

In order to keep this flawless look, here are some ground rules:
1. No water for the first 24 hours
2. Brush daily with a mascara spoolie
3. Keep these lashes clean! ( I usually use the suds from my face wash and give them a gentle rub and wash with clean water thoroughly.
4. No mascara

These are the ground rules to keeping your lashes looking flawless until your next fill!!

I will also update on any local affordable places I discover in the LA area!!

If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me!!!

This Weeks Fashion Finds

This past weekend I was driving down Melrose and I came across Sorella Boutique. This store started off as an E-Boutique. The store front is located at 712 N. Orange Grove Ave. LA, CA 90046.  I actually picked up a cute Mocha colored dress called Allure! The material on this dress is extremely thick and it has the cutest crisscross back that is very low cut. The dress runs big and has plenty of elasticity for all shapes and sizes.

Here is the dress I purchased and the online version:

Mocha Front
Mocha Back

Sorella Online Version of the front for a better view.
Sorella Online Version of the back.

If you really love this dress, check them out at Sorella.com It retails for about $45.99

Season Transition = New Lipsticks ;)

As we are preparing for the beginning of Fall, everything is going to change. Fall means new colors, new shoes, new make up, but I focus on Fall color nail polishes and my favorite LIPSTICKS!!!

In Los Angeles, it doesn't get cold fast so I always feel like we are in a transitioning period between Summer and Fall (Even though, it's still Summer). I don't like to jump from all of my bright lip colors, to my dramatic  dark colors. I always have a NUDE PERIOD!!! I think a nude lipstick is essential for every woman to have. Nude colors go with everything and has an elegant look to it. This makes my Summer to Fall color change less dramatic.

I am a lipstick junkie, I have several different shades of the same color and I don't know why!!!

Since we are days away from Fall, here are some of my favorite nudes for everyone at every price point!

My First Nude Lipstick choice
Nude Love 11 by Essence
Price: $2.99

This is the most affordable nude lipstick I own. It has a pink tint to it if that is the look you are looking for. You can find this lipstick at ULTA Essence Nude Lipstick

My second lipstick
Revlon Matte Lipstick, Nude Attitude
Price: $8.49

This nude lipstick actually gives me mixed feelings! I like it more in the container than I do on my actual lips. This color is really chalky to me. In order for it to work for me, I have to mix it with a darker lipstick to make the color calm down. I still suggest people try it out because this same lipstick looks great on one of my good friends. Nude Attitude can be found at Rite Aid, which is the link I provided for you! Rite Aid is having a buy 1 get one free sale right now, so if you are interested, you might want to grab a couple as soon as possible. This lipstick is actually sold at all drug stores and ULTA. This is also not that expensive just a couple dollars more than the Essence.

My Favorite!!!!
Mac Cosmetics Velvet Teddy
Price: $17.00

This deep tone beige is my absolute favorite nude color! It is a Matte Lipstick and its a little darker than your average nude color. I like it because I do have a darker complexion and it compliments my skin color well. This is definitely a MAC favorite. This one of my most replaced lipsticks.  So if you are looking for a darker nude, please get to a MAC Counter or MAC store ASAP for Velvet Teddy.

Last, but not least for Miss Fancy Pants
Tom Ford Sable Smoke
Price: $52.00

Tom Ford always has the best cosmetics but they are pretty pricey. This nude is also has a darker color to it which I love. It feels super soft on my lips and last almost all day. This is definitely worth the money if you have it to spend. This lipstick is a treat for me. Tom Ford is sold at most high end department stores such as Bloomindales, Saks, and Neiman Marcus.

So lets give are lips break from all of our favorite bright colors and get ready for the darker colors for the cold weather that is on the way.

Please let me know which lipstick you liked the most. If I forgot a lipstick you thought should be on the list, let me know so I can stop by and pick it up!

I hope you all enjoyed my post on my transition and enlightening you with my favorite nude lipsticks!!

Love,

Meet Joy... A New Fashion Find

Hello Fashionistas!

My absolute favorite past time is SHOPPING! And of course, when shopping, who doesn't like to find a bargain? Or as I like to call it, a "steal deal."

Recently I went on a mini vacation to Palm Desert. I love to shop in cities outside of Los Angeles because those women have a different style than LA women and the items I would typically purchase are always on sale. I can not go to the Palm Springs area and not visit Desert Hills Premium Outlets.

This outlet has just about every store from high end stores like Gucci and Prada, to your everyday stores like Aldo and Steve Madden.

I've been eyeing a specific bag at the Gucci outlet, but every time I visit the store, the bag and color I wanted was always gone. I recently found out that the best sales at the outlets are not always the sales that are advertised. Some sales are bigger the weekend before the advertised sales start. Luckily for me, I happen to visit the weekend before the Labor Day sales.

As soon as I walked in the Gucci outlet store, I seen the bag I've been eyeing for what feels like FOREVER! There it was, the GUCCI Guccissima Joy Boston Bag in red. This bag is leather with embossed signature G's imprinted all over the bag. Joy is approximately 13"L  x 9"H x 7"W. Before it was shipped to Gucci's outlet stores, this bag retailed for approximately $1240.00. I purchased Joy for $789.00 before taxes. It was a little over 35% off the retail price. I know this is a little pricey but I believe if you want it you should get it!

If you have time, please checkout their website to get the full list of all the stores available at this outlet! http://www.premiumoutlets.com/outlets/outlet.asp?id=6

I have a picture of the bag below! I hope you enjoyed my first fashion find for all you fashionistas out there!

Keep checking for more fashion finds and tips!!!
